CalPal Privacy Policy

1. Overview

CalPal ("we", "us", "our") provides nutrition and fitness features. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights and choices.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account & Profile: email, username, avatar (if provided), basic profile fields.
  • App Data: nutrition entries, goals, reminders, preferences you set.
  • Images: photos you upload for meal analysis.
  • Purchases: subscription status and receipts from the app stores (through our subscription provider).
  • Device/Diagnostics: device info, app version, and diagnostic logs.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive health data beyond what you choose to enter.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide core features, personalize your experience, and maintain service quality.
  • Process subscriptions/entitlements and send reminders/notifications you opt into.
  • Prevent abuse, debug problems, and improve the app.
  • Communicate about updates and support.

4. AI Processing

When you submit meal photos or descriptions, we send that content to our AI service provider solely to generate nutrition estimates and meal plans. We configure the service to limit use to processing requests. Results may be inaccurate and are not medical advice.

5. Service Providers

We use service providers to operate CalPal:

  • Supabase (authentication, database, storage).
  • RevenueCat (subscription status and entitlements; receives receipts/identifiers from Apple/Google).
  • Apple/Google (sign-in and in‑app purchases).
  • Notifications (OS/expo delivery of reminders).

They process data on our behalf to provide the service.

6. Friends & Sharing

If you use Friends features, selected content (e.g., activity, meals, profile) is visible to approved friends. You control friend requests and can unfriend at any time.

7. Retention & Deletion

We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Upon verified deletion request, we delete or anonymize personal information within a reasonable period (e.g., 30 days), except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes. Purchases via app stores remain subject to Apple/Google records.

8. International Transfers & Security

Information may be processed in the United States and other countries. We use technical and organizational measures (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls). No method is 100% secure.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your information, and to object to/limit processing. Contact support@calpal.app.

10. Children's Privacy

CalPal is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided information without consent, contact us to take appropriate action.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. We will post changes here and update the "Last updated" date.
